“Tinkerer of the Wastes”

Rachael has always been an optimist, no small feat when you grow up out in the wastes. When she was 13, her father went out scavenging one day and never returned. A few months later, her mother did the same thing. She spent weeks without leaving the sight of the family’s one-room shack. Eventually, hunger took her out to the wastes.

Rachael is a technical genius, specializing in scientific reasoning and medicine. It was no surprise when she joined up with the Followers of the Apocalypse. After a few years she fell in with a nihilistic group of friends, and abandoned the Followers. She taught herself how to develop energy weapons, as well as getting a taste for all kinds of chems. One day, she was so fucked up on Jet and booze that she didn’t even notice the group of raiders surrounding her and her friends. She barely made it out alive, but her friends weren’t so lucky. She tried to rejoin the Followers, but they wouldn’t let her back.

After that, she lucked out and found a courier gig. It paid more than enough, and the work wasn’t as dangerous as most other jobs. At least that’s what she thought the night Benny found her.
